Tone Dogs : The Early Middle Years.
Art-rock with a hard edge, surreal lyrics, odd meters and unusual instrumentation.
Describing themselves as “avant–prog group”, the Tone Dogs rock your socks off in unconventional and experimental ways. Founded in Portland in the year 1987 by bassist Fred Chalenor and vocalist/saxophonist Amy Denio, the group already started off as an experiment, combining odd time signatures with swing and other influences.
The Tone Dog′s second album, a production by the band itself and engineer Drew Canulette, was recorded between tours in 1990, at the Dogfish Studios in Newberg, Oregon. Klezzy, Tumbling and Spanish Eyes were recorded live to digital, while all other songs were recorded to 24–track with a fancy automated system.
