The Proper Authorities : Public Service Announcement (Instrumental).
Pulse-pounding, booty-shaking rock.
This instrumental version of the Proper Authorities' 2009 Magnatune release
"Public Service Announcement" provides a modern pop rock bed of groove, drama,
intensity, and fun. With the exception of the opening track, the originally
lyric-free track "The Supermachine Looks Much Bigger on TV," this collection of
songs focuses on a non-vocal soundscape of various moods and timbres. Sometimes
playful, sometimes serene, sometimes epic, sometimes melancholic, these tracks
are always interesting.
When discussing the approach to writing the original album, Proper Authorities'
brainchild Keith Adams described its primary theme as "how time affects our
approaches to living... a song about 'You can accomplish anything you want' has
more weight and realism to it when you add 'But you'd better step up to the task
before it's too late.'"
Though the words are absent, the urgency and attitude of these songs is still
very much present. The hard-edged guitar work and no-holds-barred drums of the
track "Losing The Now" evokes a feel of a military march with victorious and
timely purpose. The electro-rock synth stylings and slinky bass work of "Make A
Choice For Me" suggest a cold, urban environment and an immediacy of action
required. And songs like "The Ninth Life Jitters" and "Whodunit" are just plain
fun rock songs! Enjoy "Public Service Announcement: Instrumental"!
