Travelog by Jon Swift Jon Swift : Travelog.
Northwest guitarist at large.

Soothing Acoustic Guitar Instrumentals; "....a rare and beautiful album....great melodies and guitar playing set in haunting arrangements." Owes more to pop, classical, and eastern music than jazz. Natural sounding instrumentation.......a nice contrast to noodling new-age synths and saxophones. An unique soundtrack in search of a movie, a good movie.

Swift excels at creating melodies and embellishing them with subtle supporting arrangements. Layers of additional guitar, piano, and percussion give many of the pieces an ensemble sound but it is all the work of an individual.

Though well produced, the album has a quasi low-fi aesthetic that lets the melodies speak for themselves and gives the album a more intimate feel than the mass of contemporary instrumental music that tends to be hyper-polished and without soul.

Travelog is a soothing and intriguing album that works well as a backdrop to your relaxations but is also clever enough for intent listening.
